Vincennes University class at the Masjid
Aug 12, 2020 - We had a group graduate student from Vincennes University to have their social psychology class at our center. Thank you professor Carl Jylland-Halverson for bringing your class. The students got the chance to observe Asr prayer at the Mosque. For most of the students, this is the first time that they get a chance to step in a mosque and observe how Muslims pray. Thank you Dr. Ahmed Abdelmageed, Imam Hamzah Abu Leen and Br. So Min Oo for teaching and participating in the discussion. We look forward to more of such activities.
Offering Assistance to those are in Quarantined
May 24, 2020 - Over the last few week, we have been collecting information of the community members who are being quarantined or isolated due to COVID-19. We spending a few hours each week visiting those families to find out how they are doing and offer our assistance in getting foods and supplies so that they can complete a full course of quarantine. Special thanks to the family of Aladdin Food Express and local restaurants for sponsoring foods for those families! We make Du’a for everyone to get well soon.
Second Annual Networking Conference
Nov 20, 2019 - Allahumdullillah, the 2nd Annual Burmese Muslim Networking Conference of USA was successful completed today at the Masjid Noor ul-Islam, Fort Wayne. We had very good discussion and had spent a great amount time sharing about each organization’s activities. It is always beneficial to listen to the presentation of participating organizations. We thanks all the participants and wish a safe return home. Inshallah, looking forward to collaboration among Burmese Organizations across the United States to serve our communities more efficiently and effectively.
Fundraiser and Health Fair
Oct 20, 2019 - Allahumdullillah, the fundraiser turned out to be another great one. Special thanks to Women Group and Youth Group, all the volunteers and supporters for helping out with the fundraiser! We also want to thanks Muslim Health Care Professional and students from Manchester University for providing the flu shots and health screening. This is a reminder that many people work together in support of Masjid Noor ul-Islam construction project and this is how we get this far. May Allah s/w bless each and everyone of them for their good deed!
Receiving Bridge Builder Award
Oct 17, 2019 - Our current secretary Br. So Min Oo and Senior Pastor Joe Johns from Fellowship Missionary Church received Bridge Builder Award for their effort to bring the communities together. Congratulations to both of them and special thanks to Associated Churches for this recognition! Part of the BMECC's mission is to build stronger relationship with many different communities across the city and we look forward to establishing more friendship.
Students Meet with Officer Ric Robles
Oct 13, 2019 - Today, our students at the Noor ul-Islam Academy (NIA) got got to meet and listen to Officer Ric Robles about respect, discipline and value of education etc. Office Robles has been a great resource for the community and we are very glad to get to know him. We thank him for stopping at the center today and speaking to the students. It was a great experience for the students as they get to ask questions and learn from the officer about law enforcement as well.
Sharing at Avalon Missionary Church's Peace Talk
July 21, 2019 - BMECC's Secretary Br. So Min Oo shared his personal story at the Avalon Missionary Church's Peace Talk series and extended the bridge to have stronger friendship between the two communities. We can create a better society full of love and peace by acknowledging differences, appreciating similarities and respecting one another. We can achieve this by taking the first step of getting to know one another. We respect and appreciate Avalon Missionary Church for taking practical steps to choose love through friendship. We thank Pastor Matt Bruce and everyone at the Avalon Mission Church for inviting us and giving us a heartwarming experience.
