USF Students Visit on Eid
July 20, 2021 - Eid Mubarak! We had a group of graduated students from the University of Saint Francis visited the mosque on Eid day. They appreciate the knowledge we share about the Burmese Muslim Community in Fort Wayne, Indiana, as well as the current situation in Burma. They also had a tour of our masjid, listened to the mosque's unique history, and observed the evening prayer. Special thanks to Carl Jylland-Halverson who brought his class to our center and took beautiful pictures. What a fabulous way of celebrating Eid al-Adha!
COVID-19 Vaccination at the Masjid
June 18, 2021 - Parkview COVID-19 vaccination pop-up clinic will be at masjid Noor this Friday, June 18 from 1-3PM. Anyone who is 18 or older wants to receive COVID-19 vaccine is welcomed. We have already received several community members sign up to come in. Walk-in are also welcomed. We want to make sure that everyone who wants to get vaccinated get a chance to do so. Over the last year and half, we have worked closed with the Allen County Health Department to make sure our community members received all the information regarding the COVID-19 and we are pleased with the openness and engagement within our community members to fight against this deadly virus.
NIA Classes Start on June 07
June 07, 2021 - After closing the Noor ul-Islam Academy for Ramadam break, we are pleased to announce that the school will resume on June 07, 2021 with limited capacity. We now have four teachers, Mashallah, and we hope to enhance the knowledge of our children to have better understanding of the teaching of Islam, Inshallah. Please contact the Masjid Imam for the enrollment.
Goshen College Students Visit
Nov 16, 2020 - We have spent about 2 hours this morning talking about Burmese Community here in Fort Wayne with Dr. Johnathan and his students from Goshen College. The class was here to learn more about the Burmese community in Fort Wayne and to gain more knowledge on different cultures, foods and more. It was heart warming pleasure to see the openness and the willingness to accept others from these young students. Thank you Dr. Johnathan and the entire class for visiting our center this morning.
IUFW Medical Students Visit
Sep 23, 2020 - Another great discussion took place at the Center today with medical students from Indiana University of Fort Wayne. Thank you Professor Maria Hines for your openness to bring your students to our mosque, Dr. Ahmed Abdelmageed for your excellent presentation on Islam and Healthcare needs for Muslim patients and Br. So Min Oo for presenting about the Fort Wayne's Muslim community. Our local mosque is open to public for anybody who wants to learn more about Islam or the Burmese Muslim community here in Fort Wayne.
Vincennes University class at the Masjid
Aug 12, 2020 - We had a group graduate student from Vincennes University to have their social psychology class at our center. Thank you professor Carl Jylland-Halverson for bringing your class. The students got the chance to observe Asr prayer at the Mosque. For most of the students, this is the first time that they get a chance to step in a mosque and observe how Muslims pray. Thank you Dr. Ahmed Abdelmageed, Imam Hamzah Abu Leen and Br. So Min Oo for teaching and participating in the discussion. We look forward to more of such activities.
Offering Assistance to those are in Quarantined
May 24, 2020 - Over the last few week, we have been collecting information of the community members who are being quarantined or isolated due to COVID-19. We spending a few hours each week visiting those families to find out how they are doing and offer our assistance in getting foods and supplies so that they can complete a full course of quarantine. Special thanks to the family of Aladdin Food Express and local restaurants for sponsoring foods for those families! We make Du’a for everyone to get well soon.
